Lea Dougherty, MSW, LSW, joined DMA in June of 2016 as associate and provides staff support to the Eastern PA CoC, including the CoC Board, Regional Homeless Advisory Board (RHAB) and CoC subcommittees.
Ms. Dougherty brings over 25 years of experience in social work, working at several social service agencies including United Neighborhood Centers, Women’s Resource Center and St. Joseph’s Center. Among her most notable experience, Ms. Dougherty coordinated the Continuum of Care (CoC), planning process and NOFA application for the Lackawanna County CoC for ten years. In addition, she has written over 100 grant applications for funding at the federal, state, and local levels ranging from $500 to over $7,000,000. Ms. Dougherty has conducted program evaluation for grant funded programs and has been an external auditor for other organizations.
Ms. Dougherty is a graduate of Marywood University, where she also teaches part-time in the Social Work Department and is currently the part-time Program Coordinator for the Scranton Campus of the MSW Program. In addition, Ms. Dougherty teaches for the Counseling and Human Services Department at the University of Scranton.
Ms. Dougherty is a passionate advocate for social justice and increasing opportunities for individuals who face discrimination, limited opportunities and injustices at all levels of society.
